Frequently asked questions
What does 'clear formatting' actually remove?
It removes HTML tags (bold, italic, links, tables, divs), HTML entities (& etc.), curly quotes, and extra blank lines — leaving you with clean, plain text.
Why is my pasted text full of HTML?
When you copy from a browser, Google Docs, or Notion, your clipboard carries hidden HTML markup. This tool strips all of it out.
Will link text be preserved?
Yes. <a href='…'>Click here</a> becomes 'Click here'. The URL is dropped but the visible text stays.
Can I use this for cleaning up email copy?
Yes. Paste raw HTML email code or text copied from an email client, and this tool returns clean plain text suitable for pasting into a plain-text editor or form.
